Hi Guys & Dolls!
Why is it always something?
As you may have noticed, I try to stay out of the drama that can circle the beauty community- most of the time it doesn’t concern me in the least and it’s best to not stick your nose in other people’s business. But when stuff lands on my lap, I have to deal with it. Some people have been pitting me against another Youtuber in a very unfair and inaccurate way, and I want to clear the air.
Last week I posted my review of the Sephora Ariel Palette, and in case you missed it, here it is in a nutshell: I don’t think it was worth the money, and explained why. I didn’t pan it- I simply laid out my case since it’s a popular item that people are clamouring for. The shadows are not unusable, they just require more work that I’m willing to put in. I provided dupes/alternatives as well, since the palette isn’t even currently available. I was praised for being honest, which was weird for me, because I’m ALWAYS honest, but it seems like
people -correction- some people only believe negative reviews. I feel like with beauty gurus there’s an air of mistrust; If we ALL like something we must be lying/sponsored, but if we have differing opinions, someone must be lying. In this case, we bought the palettes ourselves, so why would anyone have an agenda?
In case you missed it, in my review I also stated that some people will still like it- I just don’t. In the comments on my video people have stated that they like it, or will still likely buy it, and I’d said that’s great, as long as you know what you’re buying, I’m all for it. For the record, A LOT of people do like this palette. I have a personal friend who doesn’t make videos or anything who loves them and has collected all 3 Storylook palettes. She agrees with most of my grievances, but loved them anyway for the packaging/collectible-ness. And I think that’s okidoki, she’s making an informed decision and that’s all I am attempting to do with my videos.
Some people took it upon themselves to specifically trash Xsparkage, who liked the palette. They’ve gone on Leesha’s page calling her a liar, saying she’s sponsored etc… WHAT?! To build someone up, you don’t have to tear someone else down. Xsparkage bought the palette herself just as I did, and simply has a different option than I do. No big deal. Isn’t the point of watching multiple reviews to understand different points of view and then make a conclusion based on what’s important to you?
I know for the most part, you guys & dolls have your wits about you, know that opinions vary, and will likely be a little amused that this became a big thing. I just felt I needed to make a statement to clear the air. Leesha and I are on good terms, I received her permission to talk about her. I’m not mad (maybe a little frustrated), and just want to move on.
