Milani Color Perfect Lipstick 2012 Color Expansion

Hi Guys & Dolls,

Do you want a luxury lipstick at a bargain price? Duh who doesn’t! Back when I was first getting into lipstick I stumbled upon these at Walgreens and flipped out over how fabulous & affordable they were. Back then I was always questing for MAC type products, and they were the ultimate MAC dupes: similar in texture to an Amplified Cream Lipstick at less than a third of the cost, heck they even smelled like MAC’s signature vanilla smell!

For years I’ve loved the Milani Color Perfect Lipstick formula- it’s creamy, smooth, hydrating, wonderful color payoff, and the price point makes it so easy to experiment with colors you might not normally try. Years later, the quality is still there, though the shape and smell is different. The shape of the lipstick itself is now a geometric point and the smell is sort of perfumey. uh-oh. You guys know I hate perfume or floral scented lipsticks. Many very high-end lipsticks have a perfume/floral scent, and for me that’s usually a turn off. When Milani first changed the scent I was so annoyed, but over time it’s grown on me- I even open the tubes to sniff them on purpose. I think they changed it to emulate those high-end lipsticks, so if you want a Luxury Lipstick on a shoestring budget, give these a whirl! Continue reading

The Almond Eye

Hi Guys & Dolls,

Makeup for me is about telling a story. The story of the almond eye is powerful, elegant, and sexy. They don’t ask for your attention they command it. The look is bold and graphic, flowing with the eye shape, enhancing it, redefining the scale. The matte black is a stunning look on it’s own, but by adding a tasteful amount of glitter it becomes luxurious. By pairing the bold eyes with a nude or mostly-nude face, the story is edited and clear- the eyes have it. Continue reading

FAUX LUXURY LASHES FOR FANCY PEOPLE

Hi Guys & Dolls,

How does one really “review” eyelashes? “I LOVE THESE OMG STUDSSS!!!” doesn’t seem to cut it, but what else is there to say that you can’t see?

Faux Lash is a San Francisco based brand that sells fantastic false lashes. Some of them are wild like the Faux+Dev lashes that have studs (omfg I love those!) and some are tame like the Chloe lash. Some of the more “special” lashes have a thicker band that can me tricky for beginners because it’s stiffer, but I sort of like it because it keeps it’s shape and are sturdier so it’s easier to reuse. I think some of the lashes are easy to dupe with inexpensive lash brands (Ardell, Red Cherry) however the special ones are are fabulous and worth the money! Below I have photos of the lashes Faux sent me and my thoughts on each pair. Continue reading
