Sugarpill Review & Swatches

Hi Guys and Dolls! So lately there’s been a lot of buzz on twitter and youtube surrounding this new brand, Sugarpill. Sugarpill was founded by the fun and funky Amy, known on Ebay and Etsy as Shrinkle .  I bought from Amy on ebay before, so I know the customer service is good, her makeup line seemed right up my alley, and I relished the idea of reviewing/helping a local business (Sugarpill is practically in my backyard, go Oakland!).

So far, the line has three basic forms of products, Pressed eyeshadow, Loose eyeshadow, and Lashes. Please watch my video later this week for an in-depth review of the products!

Sugarpill is a Bonanza for anyone who LOVES bright colors, amazing color payoff, great textures, and glittery/unique loose eyeshadow.  I’ll go into more detail about everything in my video review, but I think the swatches pretty much speak for themselves, so enjoy, and if any of you have tried Sugarpill, share your thoughts. What’s on your wishlist?

The Pressed Eyeshadows:

Swatchy swatch-swatch:

Dollipop, Afterparty, Midori, and Tako  from the Sweetheart Palette

Flamepoint, Buttercupcake, Poison Plum, Love+ and Bulletproof eyeshadows

The Loose Eyeshadows:

Click these to view all the detail up-close!

Junebug, Hysteric, Absinthe and Magpie Chromalust Loose Shadows

Starling, Goldilux, Asylum, Tiara Chromalust Loose Shadow

Royal Sugar, Decora, and Lumi Chromalust Loose Eyeshadows

The Lashes:

Here’s a  two SUPER quick looks I did with these today using only painterly paint pot as a base (and no base on the bottom):

For this I use Buttercupcake, Poison Plum, Dollipop, Bulletproof,  Tako, Afterparty, and Midori

And then since a few other people have duped my Starburst makeup, I figured I’d join in:

For this I used Dollipop, Flamepoint, Buttercupcake, Tako, and Lumi. Isn’t Lumi AMAZING over a white pencil!?

My Faves:

Dollipop, Afterparty, Poison Plum, Tako, and Flamepoint pressed eyeshadows,  Magpie, JuneBug, Goldilux, Royal Sugar, Decora, and Lumi Loose shadows.IN truth, I have a major makeup heart-on for all of it!

  1. I need to get these immediately! They all look so amazing and pretty equivalent to MUFE shadows. I definitely want all the pressed shadows especially afterparty, poison plum, and love+. For the loose shadows I love absinthe, goldilux, and asylum. I cant wait to make an order!

    • they are definitely on-par with mufe and other super high-quality artistry brands, and in some ways they are more impressive! I have a new makeup crush!

  2. My first purchase from them (which won’t be soon unfortunately) will be the Burning Heart palette which has Flamepoint, Buttercupcake, Love+, Poison Plum. In addition I wasnt Dollipop pressed eyeshadow. Out of the loose, I’d probably pick Goldilux and Royal Sugar.

  4. Hi Cora

Are the products made by Amy or are they made through a wholesaler to be repacked and sold like ie Lime Crime and BitchSlap?

    Thanks

    • It’s nothing like lime crime or bslap. I don’t know the specifics, Like if Amy actually worked in a lab or anything, but this is not a generic wholesale product. The packaging and quality are totally original!

  11. When you told me these were better then MUFE I gave up on my saving… I bought some of them… And after this post i want them so so bad! They really do look blendable and smooth, not to talk about the crazy brights! It’s so rare to see reds and purples like those! Ugh! *love at first photo*

  12. Maureen, definitely get these ones. Limecrime is cheap, repackaged mica from TKB, Sugarpill is actually an original line, and far better quality than LC for pretty much the same price. I bought a few LC shadows before I heard about the repackaging and I was SO disappointed in them. Dont waste your money!!

    • Yeah I’ve heard that about lime crime. To be honest, from the get-go they didn’t spark my fancy, they seemed like a lot of money for a small about of product :)

  14. How does Poison Plum compare to MUFE 92?
I have 92 and I hate it. The color itself is absolutley amazing, but I can’t get it to show up opaque, nor can I get it to blend evenly.

  17. My first reaction when I saw this new makeupbrand was just WOW, the packages are so amazingly tasty :P and the shadows look so pigmented! I absolutley loved them from the very first sight, so yeah I really would like the chance to try them out, a little pissed for being broke this month, but hopefully it won´t take forever to have the chance to let my fingers click them home :P

  18. Gah……..I bought Studio Gear’s “Freesia” eyeshadow and have never been more disappointed in my life. Looks great in the pot, but the color does NOT translate! I am eyeing Sugar Pill’s Poison Plum (and Dollipop and and and and). It looks like the colors are true-to-pot, hey?

  19. I am crazy in love with sugarpill!!! Right now I have all of the pressed shadows and six of the loose ones. I am amazed by the color payoff. I am a woman of color and have had a hard time finding color that were that bright. Absinthe in a personal favorite of mine but I also love Dollipop which is strange since I hate pink :) I can’t wait to see what comes next. And yes the packaging is SWEET!

ah, Sugarpill. I sold most of my MM eyeshdows- they were good, but Ben Nye has exact dupes, in a palette. The Sugarpill loose shadows are more unique IMO:)

  24. I placed my sugarpill order just there
i ordered the flaming heart quad, tako, royal sugar, lumi, magpie asylum and starling

such a hard time choosing! i usually ALWAYS go for pink but i decided to go for blues this time and the reds were pushing me because of how freaking HARD it is to get a good red. Seeing as hallowe’en is the closest holiday to me aside from christmas i decided to go for more halloweeny colours with the pressed shadows. CANT WAIT for them to get here ^_^

  25. Can’t wait to get these! They’re all gorgeous, so I don’t think you can go wrong picking a colour. Hopefully someone will put up swatches of the seven new shades soon…
