Hard Candy

Hey everyone, I’m sorry this blog post is SUPER short (I’m TIIIIRED< lol) Basically, I said nearly everything I wanted to in the video, but I wanted to add one more thing: Hard Candy doesn’t test on animals! YAY

Volume from a Flat Iron?

Hi Guys and Dolls. I know I said I’d have some more information on the flat iron, but really any information about tourmaline flat irons can be found on google, yahoo, dogpile, bing, whatever your search engine of choice is :) , and more information on this one in particular can be found at Beautychoice.com.  I’m sorry I’m not providing some additional info for your guys, but really I’m no expert, so i’d need to do quite a bit of research, and I just started a new job, so I’m really tired. I know it sounds like excuses, but cut me some slack on this one, eh?

OK, the mousse: Fat Hair by Samy ( I got it at Target)

The Flat Iron was sent to be by Beautychoice.com. but this is less a review of of that flat iron and more of a demo of how to get volume and straightness/shape in one step. I do think this is a great flatiron, and the skull print of it makes me excited to do my hair, LOL! anyway, you all always ask for pictures/multiple angles of my hair, so here you go my darlings:

Thanks for checking out my blog :) I have more stuff coming up soon! the videos have been a bit slow lately, but it should be picking up (no less than 2 a week) soon!!!!!

PS, since you’re going to ask anyway, I got a seasonal Job at Sephora :)

Jennifer Love Hewitt Bronze Smoky Eyes

Hi Guys and Dolls! I’m sorry it’s been so long since my last post/video, but I  have a lot of things cookin’ right now, so be prepared for a lot of stuff in the next few weeks. I love this look and I’m satisfied with how it came out, and I hope you like it as well. If you want a darker or more dramatic smoky eye, simply add more of the black, or use a starker black, like MAC’s Carbon, or NYX’s Black. I was trying to keep it light, similar to how Melinda wears in the show. It’s a fairly simple to do warm smoky eye what you can tailor make to fit your mood/skin tone/hair color/eye color.  The last pictures of the post is a few different type of bronzes and coppers. What do you think of the new site layout? I thought that the 3 column one was maybe distracting, let me know what you think!

Enjoy !

Products used & Dupes:

Face:

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer SPF 15 with Dermaxyl Complex ( I also LOVE their “Light” primer, it feels weightless)

Hard Candy Nobody’s Perfect Concealer Palette in Light (REVIEW)

L’oreal True Match Foundation in N1 (I’d probably be better off with W1 or C1, I’m not sure)

MAC Studio Fix Powder NW15 (dusted lightly over the foundation to set it. This is what I use as my regular summer foundation, but I apply it with a kabuki for medium coverage , instead of as  a setting powder)

Hard Candy Honeymoon Blush (highlight, Review SOON!)

Cheeks:

NYX Mocha Blush

MAC Petticoat MSF (discontinued bronzy-raspberry pink with iridescence . If you know of a GOOD dupe for this, that is still available, PLEASE TELL ME!)

MAC Emote Blush (Discontinued. but Ben Nye’s Contour 1 works well for a light skinned contour)

Eyes:

Urban Decay Primer Potion (UDPP)

BFTE Black (any soft black or very dark brown)

BFTE Earthy (I’m sorry, I know there is dupes, but I can’t think of one. Basically instead of these two, you could have done a dark golden brown like MAC’s Espresso, or Leather from the Kat Von D Beethoven Palette. In this post I show a few other dupes for this sort of golden brown color.

BFTE Amber  -Really, dupes for this depend on what you want, your coloring, your eye color etc. I’ve included some pictures at the bottom of this post with some colors that would all work for this purpose. Not necessarily “dupes” but colors that serve the same/similar purpose. A simple guideline is if you have green eyes red toned coppers will work for you, Brown eyes work well with yellow bronze-golds,  pink-coppers and also cool bronzes, and Blue eyes pop with any yellow or orange based-bronze or gold.  Hair color and skin color also play a role, & I’m a big fan of making your own rules, and wearing what you like.

MAC Blanc Type

Migi Velvet Liner (this is a liquid liner pen. it’s like drawing on your eyeliner with a VERY fine tipped marker. several companies make eyeliners like this, a few that come to mind are MAC, Cargo, and L’oreal (I think). Really any liquid eyeliner you like is fine, some people like pen ones, some like gel-liners & cake-liners you apply with a brush, some prefer the felt tip types like L’oreal Liner Intense)

A black eyeliner for the waterline: I prefer waterproof eyeliners in my waterline because they last longer, and they set quickly, so they don’t ruin my contacts. three I love are MAC’s Technakohl, Sephora’s waterproof Retractable Liner, and Urban Decay’s 24/7 Liners.

Urban Decay Corrupt 24/7 liner for the lower lashline

Mascara: I used Clinique’ High Impact Mascara

Lips:

Lipsmacker Lipbalm

MAC Star Nova Lusterglass

Here’s some Different types of Bronzes, Golds, and Coppers.

Click on the pictures to enlarge them.

BFTE Colors:  Copper, Big Island (one of my faves), Chocolate, Amber, Autumn, Rock Star

Urban Decay’s UnderGround, Scratch, Chopper, Smog (FAVE) MAC’s Goldmine and Milani’s Flare

Next video?

Hi Guys and Dolls! I’m having technical difficulties with the hair video (gr). I will have it up sometime early next week. I was planning on having it up today and another two videos for early next week, but sometimes editing is BEA!  So I’m going to do another video tonight and hopefully get the new one up by tomorrow night.  My question to you is which video would you all rather see? The voting on this one won’t be up for very long, because I need to go film it!

just vote once for which you’d prefer to see tomorrow:)

Classic 1959 Barbie

Hi Guy and Barbie Dolls :) I know I haven’t done a makeup tutorial since before Halloween, but as I’ve mentioned before, I was out of contacts, and behind on reviews and such.  I also wanted to do something special for my Mom’s Birthday. My Mom was born in 1959, the year Barbie Came out, so I thought she’d love it if I did a Classic Barbie Makeup tutorial.  Here is is, along with pictures and a list of the products I used. You don’t have to use what I did at all, it’s just a guideline of the types of things you are looking for. I had SO much fun with this, and I’m SO pleased with the result. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Lime Juice and Raspberries EOTD

Hi Guy and Dolls. A few weeks ago I did this look for fun, and I forgot about it entirely until I was going though my computer and deleting unnecessary photographs. I really wasn’t planning on putting this up as a blog post, but I used the picture as my twitter icon and a lot of you asked for a video or a list of what I used, so here you go!

I’m a sucker for lime green paired with purple or pink (or all three!).  Shimmer can look messy and the colors can sort of run together, at least when you are trying to do artistic makeup. Mattes help you create more defined color borders, but when you blend the colors, you can get more dimension out of it. The shimmer you see in this  came from the neon green color,  which has multi-dimensional shimmer, and the highlight, which has a violet/duo.  Anyway, I’m blabing on and on, here’s some pictures and a list of the colors I used:

lime juice and raspberries 3

Lime Juice and Rasperries

Lime Juice and Rasperries 2

I'm a bit obsessed with with Arabic style-eyeliner

Here’s what I used:

UDPP as a primer

A Matte Magenta (upper crease/brow bone blended out)

A Matte red-Violet(Crease)

A Matte Blue-purple(crease/outer lid)

Iridescence Chartreuse  (lid)

Violet duo-chrome(inner corner)

NYX White

Migi Velvet Liner in Black

Urban Decay Zero 24/7 liner

I don’t remember what the bottom purple was, but it was probably Ransom 24/7 liner form Urban Decay

Imju Fiberwig Mascara -this stuff is SO cool, I really need to do a review (even if it’s blog only)

Skincare Focus: Serum Moisturizers

Hi Guys and Dolls,

The video that will me embedded in this post will talk about a few serum moisturizers I’ve tried. There are lots of companies that make serum moisturizers, there are too many to list here, so I only listed the 3 I’ve tried/have on hand. The Moroccan  Argan Oil was sent to me by Eden Allure (click here for their website) the When Hope is Not Enough I’ve had for about a year, and the Christian Dior HydrAction Deep Hydration Radical Serum was sent to me by myshimmer.com (click here for their website). Here on the blog, I’m just going to talk about what is in each serum, and talk about what those ingredients do.

100% Pure Deodorized Moroccan Argan Oil: ($30 for 2.2 oz on the Eden Allure Website) Argan Oil is derived from the kernels of  Argan Fruit. Argan Tress only grow in a few places, most notably Morocco, making this oil rare and sought-after. Goats in actually will climb up the thorny branches just to get to the Argan fruit, so you know it’s good stuff ;) Also, this oil is fair traded, and that story is pretty interesting: The Co-ops that produce the Argan Oil are owned and operated by Women, and share profits among the women of the Berber Tribe. So it’s a cosmetic, and a cause! You can use this oil all over your body, hair, & nails. Ok, down to the nitty-gritty of what’s in this wonderful oil:

Vitamin E is so multi-useful, I’ll only list a few things this one does: Protects this skin from ultra violet damage, Reduces moisture loss in skin, it is an antioxidant, so it retards the formation of free radicals from UVA rays, stress, aging, and most importantly, when you apply Vitamin E, the skin absorbs and maintains the Vitamin E, making this a excellent skincare ingredient (this is why this one is so buzz-worthy)

Squalene is an organic compound (meaning it comes from living things, i.e. plants, animals). Because it occurs naturally in our bodies, it absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave an oily residue,  and it blend well with other oils and vitamins making it a great additive to cosmetics.

Phenol: naturally kills micro bacteria, and can aid in chemical exfoliation.

Argan Oil has other components, most of this information I found on wikipedia and other online sources (google is AWESOME)

When Hope Is Not Enough: ($38 for 1oz  available many places including Sephora stores, and Sephora.com)

Soy this one gets a lot of buzz, and it’s well deserved. Soy is an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory.

Vitamin E (see above)

Glutathione Another powerful antioxidant

Vitamin C Yet, another antioxidant :)

Christian Dior HydrAction Deep Hydration Radical Serum The third ingredient is Alcohol Denatured, which not only drys out and irritates the skin, but it can PROMOTE free radical damage, making any anti-oxidant useless, since the alcohol undoes their positive effects. This serum is harmful to your skin. The only positive is the scent, which is useless since the serum is such a stinker. The only thing radical about this serum is the price. This costs $70 dollars for 1.7 oz, which if this was a good serum, I could over look.

I hope this post and the video were helpful for you. I have a bunch of stuff coming up including a “how I style my hair video” and 2 makeup tutorials for my Mom’s 50th (Hints: you will LOVE these,  & one will take you WAY back to 1959)

<3 you guys, see you later!

How I fixed/How I Dye my hair

HI Guys and Dolls.

I’m sorry, but for now I don’t have time to do a write up on the things I used in my video, so I guess I kind of lied about that (unwittingly!) I’ll fill the blog post out later! for now, I’ll just say that my natural hair color is a dark ash blond. Here’s some before and after pics of my hair:

Calypso Review 006

This is the red-pink that I had. This is Special Effects brand “Devlish” over the pink that I had for a long time. I did not have to bleach my hair since the part that was pink was already bleached in May (this was August)

sigma 008

This is the Auburn I had the first day I died it in September. I Loved this! This was the L’oreal Mega Red Medium Auburn with a red and violet base. I used a level 10 developer. I think it looked this red because it had the bright red under it.

bfte review 010

The Auburn with Special effect Blood Red over it… I liked this too.

Lisa Frank Penquins 039

Before I tried “retouching my roots” my hair color was going strong…what the heck happened??? I think I may start doing this, dying it auburn, then putting a special effect color over it, like a few weeks later, as a color “refresher”/Rinse.

How I fixed my hair 003

This is basically what my hair color looked like after I tried to “touch up my roots” with the experimental mixture.  You can see the color has been stripped out from what it was. What you can’t see is how many different colors it is and the greenish cast it has isn’t showing up.

How I fixed my hair 044

my hair now. Not as lovely and dark as before, but not all skanky either :) I’ll be darkening it soonish. It’s a bit lighter than I would like, but Over all, I like it.
