Skin Care Foucus on Sun Protection

I’ve been asked a lot of good questions on my Sun Protection video, that there were a few I’d like to share with you:

“Can You recommend a good drugstore Sunscreen?”

hm…

A drugstore one that Is great that I used a lot last summer is the Neutrogena Ultra sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock With “Helioplex”(whatever that hype word is) (it comes in multiple SPF’s)

It feels nice and Light dries pretty matte, and I love using this all over my body, but it DOES smell like sunscreen, which is a turn off for some, but it’s pretty cheap. It’s Water Resistant ^_^

” I was wondering if you have to use a moisturizer with SPF if you already use foundation with SPF?”

Doubling up your sun protection is a really good idea. There are so many formulas out there, I’m certain you will find one that will work for you! The problem is, even if you foundation says it has SPF, many of them do not have adequate amounts of the SPF ingredient. And even if it does, you need to apply a lot of your SPF product to get accurate coverage, and most people don’t apply that much foundation to their face.

“I thought I heard somewhere that wearing SPF a lot is actually not good for you because your putting chemicals on your face.? I don’t know if that is true or not, can you please clarify for me?”

That’s semi-true. some sunscreens cause allergic reactions in some people.  Titanium Dioxide sunscreens are usually fine for all people

“SPF 15 means it protects for 1.5 hours. SPF 20 is 2hrs ect. so after 1.5hrs, you need to reply or it wont work anymore “

To clarify,
” If your skin would normally burn after 10 minutes in the sun, for example, wearing an SPF 15 sunscreen would theoretically allow you to stay in the sun for 150 minutes”

Question 20

“What if you go out in the sun but just don’t burn? How do you know how much damage you are getting and what spf do you need? I’m mixed so I almost never burn.. Only on my knees and the very tops of my cheeks and that is very rare for it to happen.. What do I do? I have cancer on both sides of my family so should I use like spf 45?”

Use at least 15 for everyday, and 30 to 45 for long days out side. Keep in mind, It’s not only burning, it’s wrinkles that we’re trying to prevent^_^.

“Hey Cora i actually have a question related to sunscreen. I have moderately dry skin and i was wondering i put on sunscreen in the morning do you think its necessary to still wear a moisturizer?”

That Really depends on your skin’s needs, and how Good of quality you SPF product is. Obviously, if you skin still feels dry, you’ll need to use both, But I’m certain you can find a product that will be a two in one for you ^_^

My real opinion of the 120, 88, and 28 neutral palettes.

Ok, so, there’s a lot of buzz going around Youtube and the makeup community at large about a lot of these no-name (or kinda-named, in the case of the 120 palette) So I wanted to write it down what I think of these once and for all, so  the record could be set straight.

I think that these are a great value,  they are fun to play with, and give you the oppourtunity to try so many different colors, maybe colors you were shy to try out. They are not however, a replacement for higher quality eyeshadows. These are not made with as good of quality ingredients as say, MAC eyeshadows. Higher-quality eyeshadows, Such as MAC, NYX, Ben Nye, Urban Decay, etc, Have better quality binders and thickeners in them, that improve your makeup’s texture, feel, and staying power (both creaseing and fadeing). I’ve had several people ask If I think theyshould get the 120 or 88 palette or MAC eyeshadows or pigments, or  which do I think people should buy, the 120, or the 88 palette. In this video I compare the 120 and 88 palette, using the analogy of apples and oranges. Well, when comparing these brandless palettes to MAC, if they are fruit, MAC is Steak (sorry vegetarians, I hope you can still appreciate the analogy.).  I think that for teh price, you can’t beat getting 120-88 eyeshadows, But don’t expect them to do what MAC or other high-quality brands do. That said, I think of all of these, the 28 Neutral Palette (some times called the Bridal Palette) is the best of the bunch. I use it quite often.
